St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School Kogarah students are valued for the contributions they make to the school community. The staff and students in Years 3-6 elect student leaders each year. Two students in Year 6 are voted in as school captains and two as school vice captains. Students also vote for house colour captains.
Students in Year 6 have special responsibilities to support students around the school and on the playground. Students from Year Two to Six are a part of the Student Representative Council (SRC). They meet every week and help develop initiatives to improve the school and build community spirit. The SRC members are involved in a variety of school activities and help to promote and advertise school events. Students are elected every term.
St Patrick’s has an active social justice group called the Mini Vinnies – Helping Hands Social Justice Outreach Group. This group of Year 5 students meet regularly to discuss how they can best support those in need and promote and lead social justice initiatives within the school community.
Students in Year 3-6, who are interested in the environment, are encouraged to be involved in a variety of groups including the Hygiene Heros and the Waste Warriors. These students meet regularly to discuss and implement initiatives to raise awareness and to help look after our school environment. There is also a Gardening Group who look after our playground plants and gardens.
